The Fremont Elks sponsored a BBQ in Hayward with some of the Lincoln Kinship families. Kinship families are grandparents, aunts, family friends who are raising grandchildren, nieces, other children because the parents are unable to. It is enlightening to hear some of their stories and I find them all incredible to take on this responsibility. They all had a great time and were so appreciative of our support. The graduating seniors going on to college were especially thankful for the graduating gifts they received. We even had a short trash pickup activity that some of the folks participated in.
